The Michael Jackson story came back to life this week with a ruling by the Los Angeles County Coroner that the death of the pop star two months ago was homicide.
And so we slipped our hand back into our bejeweled glove and started looking around for new tidbits of news to share with you about the Story of the Century. (Yes, it’s early, but after watching TV these last few months we’re pretty sure the cable networks have called it.)
First, from our old pal William Heisel, a fella who knows a thing or two about medical investigations, comes the clearest explanation we’ve seen yet of what Jackson’s docs did and why their actions leave them extremely vulnerable to all manner of legal repercussions.
In a blog post on USC’s Reporting On Health Web site, our boy Bill (who after leaving the Register and later the Los Angeles Times now works for a health research outfit in Seattle) pores over the court documents filed in the Jackson case and concludes that Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson’s personal physician, may or may not eventually be found criminal responsible for the singer’s death, but certainly seemed to be acting “more like a dealer” than a doctor.
