Shay Sorrells, a 30-year-old social worker from Newport Beach, made it through to week 9 of “The Biggest Loser,” shedding 100 pounds in the process.
But the ninth episode proved her last, as Shay was voted out at the conclusion of a double-elimination night.
Of the eight contestants who began the week, Shay actually was in the middle of the pack when it came to the week’s losses. Shay dropped 17 pounds, bringing her total for the season to 100. That made her the woman to reach the 100-pound mark fastest in the show’s history.
The 17 pounds was the most anyone lost, but as the largest contestant on the show, her percentage loss was fifth among the eight.
In a normal week, she would have been safe. But with Rudy holding immunity and the week’s bottom loser - Shay’s Orange teammate Daniel - eliminated on the spot, Shay and Amanda were left to face the vote.
Shay lost 3-2, with her sparring partner, Rudy, casting the deciding vote.
omg i was sad to know that shay was leaving and dani they both deserved to stay. but shay still continued. didnt she look amazing last night on Jay leno?? wow congrats shay. i wish i could meet her and tell her shes a big inspiration to AMERICA
Yes, she did. Wish I could muster that stick-to-it-iveness!
I am glad to hear she has lost more weight. But Daniel and Shay both deserved to go home.
Unless Shay gets more outside help, she will likely gain the weight back within 2 years. A 9 week TV program isn’t going to change her life competely.
Did anyone else see that at her welcome home party they had cupcakes to hand out. Nice. I guess they didn’t get it. Her at home support isn’t going to be there.
