Find out who left ‘Dancing With The Stars’ tonight

October 6th, 2009, 7:19 pm · 4 Comments · posted by PETER LARSEN, THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER

donny_slideshowRumors flew all over the Web this afternoon about who would leave “Dancing With The Stars.”

Would there be a regular elimination, another one of the cannon fodder dancers sent packing? Was it true that former congressman Tom DeLay would withdraw because of injured feet, as many Web sites predicted?

If DeLay took himself out of the show, would we still get an elimination this week, or would things be pushed back a week as happened last year when Olympic beach volleybal champ Misty May-Treanor left with an injured leg.

To find out the answers to all of those questions, keep reading this post — we don’t want to spoil it for you accidentally after all — or take a spin through the slide show and see it announced there, too.

In a results show that featured more action and less filler than most, this is how it played out:

Tom DeLay bowed out, taken down by stress fractures in his feet, though if he has healed enough, he might get to come back and do the Texas two step in the finale show.

Actress Debi Mazar, whose low scores and small fan base made her vulnerable from the start, was eliminated, even though footballer Michael Irvin had lower scores this week.

And finally, Sabrina Bryan, the O.C. native who found stardom as a Cheetah Girl, will return to the show later this season for a special performance.  Bryan had been the sixth dancer eliminated in Season Five of the show, shocking many fans and outraging the judges, who’d expected her to be in it much longer.

Her return comes about through a new twist the show introduced this year, the ”Design A Dance” fan vote. Voters get to pick different parts of the dance each week. After voting Bryan in today, now they will pick her professional partner in the upcoming week.
