‘Battlestar Galactica’: The long goodbye

Tonight marks the “midseason finale” for “Battlestar Galactica” on SciFi -and it’s going to be a looong halftime break.
The Watcher said earlier this week that the second half of season four might not air until 2009. Now, that has been confirmed to TV Guide by BSG executive producer Ronald D. Moore.
Moore said that post-production issues and fall competition mean that the last 10 episodes won’t arrive until after the first of the year.
Which brings up a small but interesting issue: When is a season a season? If the two halves of season four are separated by six months and the rolling over of a calendar number, are they really the same season?
BSG is not the first series to separate parts of a season by a wide chasm. “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” came back this week with the “second half” of season seven, six months after the first half ended and with changes to the cast. Producers of “The Shield” initally intended season six to be the “second half” of season five, but after a gap of nearly a year they gave into common sense.

Did you actually Watch the episode Sunday, PURGATORY? First it was a Goren/Eames episode, and Vincent, Kate, and Eric were all still there and are the only ‘permanent cast during their eleven weeks?
As far as Chris Noth’s character Mike Logan will be back this weekend along with his OLD partner Carolyn Wheeler, out on maternity leave and Eric Bogoian as Ross. The three main characters on their eleven weeks. Do you know something or see something we missed?
