‘Top Chef’ finale: Lisa must go!

June 4th, 2008, 10:11 am · 6 Comments · posted by The Watcher

Who turned off the rice? The two-part “Top Chef” finale begins tonight with the elimination of one of the Final Four in Puerto Rico - and that one had better be Lisa Fernandes.

A quick analysis of the season by the Watcher shows that Lisa ranks far behind her competitors Richard Blais, Stephanie Izard and Antonia Lofaso.

In 12 weeks of competition, Lisa has won one challenge, while her rivals have at least four apiece. Lisa has been in the “high” group at the elimination challenge twice, compared with at least six for the others. Worst of all, Lisa has been inthe “low” group at the EC six times - just one fewer than the others combined!

And let’s not forget Lisa’s nasty, defiant personality. By and large, she’s in the Final Four because someone else was worse every week.

Adding up challenge wins and “high” group finishes and subtracting “low” finishes, the Watcher came up with the following ranking for the Final Four. (Among the eliminated challengers, Dale Talde ranked highest with 7 points.)

Please, please send Lisa home. I hope that Tom and the other judges take all that into consideration. Richard, Antonia, and Stephanie are heads above Lisa, witness your ranking.
Hey, what do you think about Mole?

  2. Jen Says:

It’s simply not possible! How on earth could they possibly keep Lisa yet again?! My heart is broken that they sent Antonia home. Did I think she would win? Not really, but she certainly earned the right to compete in the final three. Lisa does not belong in the same kitchen as Stephanie or Richard.

  3. VinnieG Says:

You said it Jen. . .what the heck is going on? Lisa could maybe be a dishwasher for Stephanie or Richard but that is about as far as it would go. I swear they must be keeping her on just to create drama because I don’t see any way that she could have out cooked Antonia.

  4. The Watcher Says:

That was so disappointing! Antonia clearly was off her game; she was at the bottom of the Quick FIre, too.

Vinnie, I think you are right that Lisa’s personality helped keep her in the game. Conflict is good for television. It’s like season one, when the producers dropped Lee Ann to keep the Dave-TIffany battle in place for the final.

  5. The Watcher Says:

Kathy: I thought ‘The Mole’ was terrific. I just posted an item about clues in the first episode.

  6. Jen Says:

I agree completely! I do not understand why Lisa is still there!! I was so upset when Antonia went home instead of her last week! Her attitude turns me off so bad and I wish the judges could see how bad it can get in the kitchen. A top chef doesn’t have an attitude like that. All I know is she better be gone first thing this next episode. Richard and Steph are in whole different ball field than Lisa is, and they deserve to be there.
