Pedro decided to take his 11-year-old daughter Juliet to cover the orange carpet at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards this year, figuring, ‘Who better than a honest-to-goodness tween to help cover the most popular awards show for kids’ entertainment?
And together, we reported a crackerjack of a story on the celebrity arrivals, if Pedro does say so himself.
But still, you don’t get really get all of particular insights that a fifth grader might bring to the carpet, and so on the drive back to Orange County from the show at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion, we asked our junior reporter — that’s the back of her head over there, in the shot with Miley Cyrus — to jot down a short list of things that seemed particularly interesting to a regular kid….

In her own words, here’s what caught her attention the most, call it ‘Eleven Observations from an 11-Year-Old,’ if you will….
1) Jennette McCurdy (’Sam’ on Nick’s ‘iCarly’) is really skinny and she had a nice dress. it’s a purpley colored dress that was really pretty.
2) Rico (Moises Arias) from “Hannah Montana” is as tall as my 6-year-old sister Anna Lily. And he’s 13 years old!
3) The cast of “Dance on Sunset” are very energetic and one of the girls looks like Vanessa Hudgens (star of “High School Musical.”)
4) Jerry Trainor (’Spencer’ from ‘iCarly’) says his celebrity crush is Jack Black. Nathan Kress (’Freddy’ on the same show) says his crush is Kiera Knightly. Jennette McCurdy says hers is Johnny Depp.
5) I heard Mr. Moseby (actor Phill Lewis) from ‘The Suite Life of Zack and Cody’ say Fergie was ‘lookin’ good.’
6) It was really hard to hear what people where saying when we were interviewing them, because people were screaming and bustling and hustling about.
7) Jordin Sparks (winner of ‘American Idol’) is really tall and her shoes were really cool. They were kind of like plastic boxes on the bottom.
8 ) Emily Osment (of ‘Hannah Montana’) says never to drop out of school if you want to be a performer. And she said she’s going to go to college.
9) Drake Bell was trying to look like Johnny Depp with his beard and glasses. Josh Peck looks like he has five o’clock shadow. Drake and Josh should both shave because they have whiskers all over their faces.
10) It was weird to see all the stars just come up to you. When you looked up from your notebook you saw Miley Cyrus standing there and I was stunned!
11) When my mom asked me who I thought was cute I said actually a lot the boys in real life had lots of pimples.
