Barry hates Simon but loves Britney

The Monday night appearance by Britney Spears, the World’s Greatest Living Person, didn’t exactly rewrite television history.

The Mouseketeer’s guest role gave “How I Met Your Mother” a nice ratings bump, but the show still drew only half the audience of time-slot rival “Dancing With the Stars” and two-thirds of CBS follower “Two and a Half Men.”

Britney’s wardrobe isn’t exactly burning up the Internet, either. The latest bids on six dresses she wore on “HIMYM” – currently at auction on SeenOn.com – ranged from $300 for a blue Marc Jacobs print to $910 for a rust-colored Nanette Lepore creation.

What about Britney’s performace? She wasn’t much worse than anyone else on this rather poor episode. To save viewers the pain of having to sit through the entire show, CBS has collected all 2:56 of Britney.
