The Watcher told you yesterday to watch “Anchorwoman” while you could - and now it’s too late.
After a dismal debut, the “reality” show joins the elite list of one-and-done series, alongside such greats as “Turn On” and “Who’s Your Daddy?” Only 2.7 million tuned in, and the 18-49 ratings tied with reruns of “America’s Top Model” for last place in the 8-9 p.m. hour.
As punishment to the viewers for not tuning in, Fox will fill the time slot with double reruns of “‘Til Death.”

Big, honkin’ complete DVD sets of classic series have been arriving every year just in time for holiday shopping. This fall’s present of choice: “Seinfeld: The Complete Series.”
The massive collection puts together not just all 180 episodes and tons of video extras, but throws in a coffee table book for good measure. Not a coffee table book about coffee tables, silly, about the show.
All this for a mere $284 list. The release date is Nov. 6; there’s no pre-ordering on Amazon yet, but that should be available soon. For those of you who have been buying a season at a time, the season 9 set will arrive on the same day.

All we can say to the producers of “Dancing With the Stars” is, danke schoen, darlings, danke schoen.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the World’s Greatest Entertainer, also known to the mere mortals as Mr. Wayne Newton, will be among the cast this fall. The mirror ball trophy is all but decided.
The runners-up to Mr. Newton will be revealed Aug. 29 on “Good Morning America”; Jennie Garth and Scary Spice are reported to be among them.
The new season of “DWTS” kicks off Sept. 24.

I sincerely hope the Watcher’s persistent flogging has turned you into a regular viewer of this series. It’s the kind of drama you expect from HBO, not AMC.
“Mad Men” beautifully captures the world of America in 1960 - when sexism, racism and non-stop smoking were the norm. But it’s not the differences with contemporary life that are striking, it’s the similarities.
At the core, “Mad Men” is about the characters’ everyday struggle to find a place in a world that doesn’t quite seem to fit them.
New episodes air at 10 p.m. Thursdays, with frequent repeats throughout the week.

It’s been nearly two months now since Pedro joined forces with the Watcher and yet we’ve barely begun to introduce ourselves to you.
And since we’re all about the sharing, we’ll share this fun factoid that one set of Pedro’s great-grandparents immigrated from Finland, many, many, many years before the Village People blessed the planet with the anthem “Y.M.C.A.”
What does one of those things have to do with the other? Pretty much nothing, actually, other than to serve as an excuse to celebrate this Finnish national treasure:

While all sorts of good stuff was going on during the live feeds and the “After Dark” episodes on Showtime, the editors were busy putting together an innocuous bore-fest Tuesday night.
** America is so unimaginative! How could anyone not vote for America’s Puppet to give the “Woobie” to Evel Dick? Do you voters actually prefer the show to be boring?
** Loved Zach torturing Eric over Jessica. It’s the first sign of a real personality we’ve seen from the guy. Of course, he promptly refunds those bonus points by tanking yet another competition.
** Remind me to hire Amber the next time I’m in a negotatiation - to work for the other side. How sad was it to watch her give everything away to Daniele without even being asked?
** Jen seemed to take her nomination well. Appearances can be deceiving.
If you want a hint at what’s going on that you didn’t see, click through to the rest of the article. I’m guessing the material will be the bulk of Thursday’s pre-eviction show.

No, the Watcher holds no hope that “Anchorwoman” will be good in the traditional sense of the word, but it might well qualify under the “so bad it’s good” exception.
The premise: A Fox station in Tyler, Texas hopes to revive the ratings for its news broadcasts by hiring bikini model/wrestling diva Lauren Jones as anchor.
The humor will derive from three bits: 1) Lauren shows off her poor reading skills and general ignorance; 2) Professional journalists at the station resent her; 3) Various people react to Lauren’s clothing - or lack thereof.
Actually, my recommendation is to watch until you get each of these bits once - probably five to 10 minutes - then get out before they start repeating.
“Anchorwoman” debuts at 8 p.m. on Fox.

The “Survivor” rumor that just won’t die is that season 16 will be the second all-star extravaganza, this time featuring popular castaways from seasons 9-15.
Despite all the web buzz about All-Stars 2, there is still no hard evidence that it’s happening.
And the Watcher is firmly opposed to the concept. The first All-Stars was easily the weakest of the 14 seasons to date, filled with either the half-hearted or those who had alliances in place before filming started.
But if it must happen, CBS should at least let the Watcher cast the show. Although I haven’t been asked yet (officially), I’m only to happy to oblige.
For several Watcher-endorsed options for the All-Stars 2 cast, click through to the rest of this article.

TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello reports that Janeane Garofalo will be joining the cast of “24″ next season.
Those with deep TV memories will recall that Garofalo and Chloe - that is, Mary Lynn Rajskub - were both cast members of “Mr. Show” and “The Larry Sanders Show.”
Ausiello recently told us that Veronica Mars herself, Kristin Bell, was about to join the cast of “Lost” - just before she joined the cast of “Heroes” - but he’s right much more often than not.
