The most subversive show on television returns tonight for season three. How else to describe “Weeds,” a comedy about the doings in a very Irvine-like suburban town - the wonderfully named Agrestic - where pot-dealing mom Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) offers the closest thing to moral leadership?
Naturally, the Watcher loves it.
One of the many pleasures of “Weeds” is its theme song, the 1960s folks classic “Little Boxes” by Malvina Reynolds. Each week, a different artist serves up a version. Among those tackling the tune this season are The Shins, Randy Newman, Joan Baez, the Decemberists and Angelique Kidjo.
“Weeds” airs at 10 p.m. on Showtime.
