Passing on bad news is a journalist’s duty, and the Watcher won’t shy from it. So here goes:

“America’s Got Talent” has been renewed.

That’s right, the show with the grammatically tortured title will be back next summer for a third season of acts that would have been booed off “The Original Amateur Hour” 50 years ago. And, of course, another helping of David Hasselhoff comes with it.

In another sign of how far summer reality fare has declined, NBC also gave a renewal to “Last Comic Standing” - meaning a show once cancelled before its finale and revived out of desperation is now a “hit.”
